Story time and Reading this half term

Our book for this half term that links to our topic is The Firework-Makers' Daughter by Philip Pulman. If you have your own copy, why not read along during our story time or read it as part of our reading for pleasure time during the day.

The Firework-Makers' Daughter

Lila longs to become a Firework-Maker like her father. Against his wishes, she runs away to the volcano, Mount Merapi, to find Royal Sulphur, a task all Firework-Makers must complete. Lila meets many challenges during her journey up the mountain. Her encounter with the Fire-Fiend determines once and for all whether she will become a Firework-Maker.

Reading

Spend time with a 'Reading for Pleasure' book at some point today and see if other family members want to join in with you. Or you could look for a book to read here https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/

I have also included below a list of books to read before you leave Primary School. The first page is for 5-8 year olds and the second page is for 9-11 year olds. Please have a look and see how many you have read or could read - especially while we are at home more.

Enjoy poetry?

If you enjoy poetry or want to listen to some great poetry, try this website that has lots of poets reading poems for you to listen to. There is a featured poet each day and why not get adults to listen with you.

Why not check out poems by Michael Rosen. There is a link to his poem here as well as his website.
